NAME: BIG-EARED HORSESHOE BAT

DESCRIPTION: This small bat has a buff-coloured woolly coat and large ears. The undersides are paler. Its nose leaf differs from that of other bats of this family in having a projecting sella .

BEHAVIOUR: Emerges at twilight and flies with a rapid flight.

DISTRIBUTION: A few records in Uttarakhand, northern West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.

HABITAT: Caves and abandoned mines in hilly regions.

Size: 4–4.8 cm

IUCN Status: Least concern
